Your COMA. Your PEGA. Built heavier, stronger, and more precisely than anything rolling off a factory floor today. The frame is irreplaceable — and an Amada control upgrade from Lapis Services makes sure the electronics finally match it.

The 55-ton COMA. The PEGA with its thick, perfectly overengineered turret disk. These machines were not built to a price — they were built to last forever. The frames are heavier. The components are more precise. The structural rigidity that locks in tolerances run after run is something modern machines, with their lighter builds and compromised tonnage, simply do not replicate.
Shops that own these machines know it. That is why they hold onto them — not out of habit, but because nothing available today comes close to the mechanical quality sitting on their floor.
A 55-ton COMA or a PEGA in good mechanical condition is worth more than most shops realize. The frame is your most powerful asset. The control is the only thing holding it back — and that is exactly what we fix.
The legendary Amada frame outlasts the electronics by decades. As the control ages, however, it starts pulling that powerful machine backward — faults, inconsistency, lost production, and repair bills that pile up without ever actually solving anything.
An Amada control upgrade removes that single bottleneck completely. The frame, the turret, the tooling — all of it stays exactly as it is. What changes is the control system that has been limiting what that machine can actually do.
We are the only provider of the proprietary LAPIS FANUC control system — engineered exclusively for Amada turret punch presses and press brakes. That specificity matters: the integration between control, servo motors, and turret behavior runs as a single unified system, not a patchwork of generic components.
An aging control does not fail quietly — it bleeds. Each fault, each repair cycle, each part that gets harder to source chips away at a machine that was built to be unstoppable.
When you factor in downtime, repeated turret punch rebuilds, and the cost of production uncertainty, the true operating cost of an aging Amada control almost always exceeds what an upgrade would have cost — usually by a wide margin.
Lapis Services does not push upgrades on machines that do not need them. A single board failure, a drive going down, an isolated fault — targeted repair is almost always the right first move, and we tell you so plainly when it is.
The calculation flips when these show up:
If two or more of these apply, the upgrade pays back faster than the next repair cycle. We will show you the numbers.
What is an Amada control upgrade?
An Amada control upgrade replaces the aging CNC control on your turret punch press or press brake with a modern FANUC-based LAPIS control — purpose-built for Amada machines. The frame, turret, and mechanical systems stay untouched. The machine performs better than it has in years, backed by a 2-year FANUC parts and labor warranty.
How much does an Amada control upgrade cost?
Most upgrades come in at 20–30% of new machine cost — and pay back fast once you eliminate repair cycles and recover lost uptime. We conduct a full system evaluation before quoting, so you know exactly what is involved. Call (219) 464-9131 to get your evaluation scheduled.
Should I repair or upgrade my Amada control?
Repair wins when a failure is isolated and the surrounding system is stable. An Amada turret repair or board-level fix can add years of productive life when the machine is otherwise healthy. Upgrade wins when failures repeat, parts grow harder to find, or the machine runs inconsistently. We give you a direct answer — no sales pressure.
Which Amada machines can receive a control upgrade?
We upgrade Amada COMA, VIPROS, PEGA, and legacy RG series machines. The LAPIS FANUC control is purpose-built for these models, with full compatibility for your existing tooling library and part programs.
Will the upgrade affect my tooling or existing programs?
No. Your tooling library and part programs transfer cleanly. The new interface is faster and more capable — and your operators run production the same day.
How long does the upgrade take?
Timeline depends on machine model and scope identified in the evaluation. Our mobile service can begin on-site work within 24 hours of confirmation. Call (219) 464-9131 for a specific estimate on your machine.
Tell us what you have. We evaluate the full system and give you a straight answer — upgrade, repair, or something else. No runaround.
